Best airport for the Amalfi Coast
The best airport for the Amalfi Coast depends on your final town, flight price and tolerance for transfers. Naples is usually easiest, Salerno can be excellent when flights match, and Rome can be cheaper for long-haul or low-cost routes.
Naples is usually the easiest choice
Naples has the strongest balance of flights and onward transport. From Naples you can continue toward Sorrento, Salerno, Positano or Amalfi with trains, buses, ferries and private transfers.
Salerno can save time for the southern coast
Salerno is useful when your destination is Amalfi, Ravello, Vietri sul Mare or towns on the eastern side of the coast. The airport is smaller, so availability matters more than distance alone.
Rome is worth checking for cheaper flights
Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino can produce lower flight prices. The tradeoff is a longer ground transfer, usually by train toward Naples or Salerno before continuing to the coast.
